All classes start at 9:00 AM and end around 4 PM, with a break for lunch.
The day will be spent concentrating on a single skill. We will cover gathering materials, constructing tools and developing the techniques that will be needed to complete the project.
Cost: All Saturday classes are $60, and include all materials.
Fire Making Intensive
The bow-drill will be covered in detail. This class will cut months, if not years off your learning curve! The student will learn to identify and gather materials to construct fire-making kits. They will make their own bow-drill kit to take home and use to further their practice of this important survival skill. We will teach how to construct a proper fire lay, and give hints and techniques for proper form.
Please bring a notebook and pen, and a non-folding sheath knife, with a blade length of 4 - 5 inches. Please bring your lunch and drinking water. Dress for the weather.
Introduction to Plant Identification
Learning to properly identify plants is a rigorous undertaking. This class will take the many aspects of plant identification and break them down into easy-to-understand steps that will lead to a more enjoyable study of this skill, and a greater reliability on the results. The student will learn how to identify the most common plants and trees, those that are useful for food, medicine, and utilitarian purposes.
